LANA

"We are in an exciting time of upheaval. Both in the fashion industry in general and with the realignment of the Lana line in particular.

Due to my 30-year history with Lana, sustainability is deeply anchored in my DNA and therefore a matter of course for me. Personally, I have set myself the goal of focusing even more on design in the coming collections and breaking new ground with the label. Fair fashion has to leave its niche existence.” This is the strong statement by Maria Kohnen, who took over the creative direction of the Lana line in her parents Anne and Hermann Kohnen’s company in 2017.

For me, slow fashion is not a lifestyle, but a necessity. Maria Kohnen

Since then Maria has been working on a reorientation of the main collection. Of course, still under strict sustainable criteria. Because sustainability has a long tradition in the family company from Aachen. Children’s and women’s collections have been created here since 1987 – Lana has been GOTS certified since 2008. Since 2014, the ROSALIE line has been available alongside the Lana collection, and two years later there was a further subdivision with the launch of the MINU line.

Good to know: It is better to walk new paths together. With the Heidelberg jewelry label Fremdformat, Lana has designed a unique jewelry collection for summer 2019. All the raw materials in the limited collection are recycled: the metals are leftovers from the metalworking industry, the textile components are offcuts from the Lana collection.

Bullet point “Capsule Wardrobe”

The Aachen-based company relies on a smart mixture of current trend pieces as well as classic essentials and must-haves to show consumers how they can change their wardrobe in line with the slow fashion movement without having to compromise on their personal style. In addition to the women’s and jewelery collection, there is of course also something for the little ones: the Lana baby newborn sets are the ideal introduction to the world of sustainable fashion. Everything babies need at the beginning – of course in the best organic quality and therefore the ideal gift for birth!
