It is the eighth anniversary of the disaster in Rana Plaza in Bangladesh. For the second time, Fashion Revolution is taking place during the pandemic. Offline events are not possible this year either. Here are some selected digital events for Fashion Revolution 2021

The fashion industry in the corona crisis: time to rethink!

C&A, Primark & ​​Co remain sitting on their unsold items of clothing because of the corona pandemic. Orders worth billions were canceled and some finished collections were not accepted. For workers in producing countries such as Bangladesh, India or Myanmar, this means the loss of work, income and livelihoods. The corona crisis makes a necessary change in the textile industry even clearer. But which ways lead out of this crisis? What can a legal framework achieve? And what role do fair and ecological textile seals play?

One year after the outbreak of the corona pandemic, Hamburg speaks fairly with Annekatrin Mohr from Brands Fashion and Sina Marx from FEMNET e.V., an association that has been campaigning for the rights of women in the global clothing industry since 2007.

As part of the Fashion Revolution Week 2021, the FAIR FASHION FORUM in the Munich Community Foundation in cooperation with the Nord-Süd Forum and Dr. Gisela Burckhardt / FEMNET on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 (6:00 pm) on Zoom, an exciting and important online event on the effects of the pandemic on Bangladesh and India.

Fashion Revolution Radio-Demo

This year, Kleiderei is organizing a 2-hour radio demo in cooperation with the non-profit online radio station dublab.de, which broadcasts #KleidereiRadio every month. The call: turn clothes inside out, headphones up and down on the streets! The clothing radio presenters provide all participants with motivating songs for the corona-compliant demo walk. Plus: exciting verbal contributions from actors from the community such as Aika Fischbeck from Femnet, Max Gilgenmann from NEONYT or Thekla Wilkening.

Good to know: All participants are connected to one another via the two-hour special broadcast. You can exchange ideas via a chat.

Live Webinar “Decolonising Craft”

Schon bei der 2nd GREENSTYLE hatten wir eine Kooperation mit dem Social Business und Design Label Nata Y Limón. Wir durften mit den kunstvollen Kissen unserem Konferenzbereich das gewisse Etwas verleihen. Der Kontakt ist geblieben. Inzwischen sind Anne Schneider und Marlene Walter mit Nata Y Limón Teil der GREENSTYLE Brand Directory. Im Rahmen des Webinars zeigen die beiden Gründerinnnen anhand ihres Brand Probleme im Craft Sektor in Guatemala auf und stellen Lösungsansätze sowie Ideen für einen neuen Standard vor, welcher einen faireren Handel mit Craft-/Kunsthandwerk möglich macht.

We already had a cooperation with the social business and design label Nata Y Limón for the 2nd GREENSTYLE. We were allowed to give our conference area that certain something with the artistic cushions. The contact has remained. Anne Schneider and Marlene Walter are now part of the GREENSTYLE Brand Directory with Nata Y Limón. As part of the webinar, the two founders use their brand to highlight problems in the craft sector in Guatemala and present possible solutions and ideas for a new standard that makes fair trade in craft / handicrafts possible.
