Lama Living – Home of sustainable home textiles

With her online marketplace LAMA LIVING, Justine Weiß wants to achieve what is already set in the area of fashion in the area of home textiles. To this end, she curates the online shop of her Stuttgart start-up with natural products from selected brands. Predominantly from women-run companies.

Beautiful bed linen, fluffy bathrobes and bathroom textiles, cotton bread baskets, felt seat cushions – in her online marketplace LAMA LIVING for sustainable home textiles, Justine presents everything that makes our homes (even) more beautiful.

With the launch of her online shop in autumn 2022, Justine has fulfilled several issues close to her heart: With her independence, she has brought together the topics of sustainability and home textiles. And with the clear statement that they want to create an impact with their work. Just three months later, Justine presented her concept at the Neonyt B2B trade fair in Düsseldorf together with the textile accelerator “Stoff im Kopf” at Reutlingen University.

Lama Living

My vision is to make home textiles made from natural materials the new standard and bring sustainability into your home.

Justines way to LAMA LIVING

Whether it’s a bedroom, bathroom, living room or children’s room – one year after being founded, Justine presents over 24 brands on her platform. Her past experiences helped her. After her time in purchasing for home textiles, Justine worked as a sustainability expert in retail companies for eight years. She completed her practical experience with a part-time MBA degree in Sustainability Management at Leuphana University in Lüneburg.

Lama Living

An increase in the useful life of textiles and a development from “fast fashion” to “slow fashion” is possible – not only for clothing, but also for home textiles.

Your two focus topics that differentiate you from competitors? The products offered are made exclusively from natural materials such as cotton, linen, hemp, sheep’s wool and of course alpaca wool. Justine also placed a clear focus on the topic of female empowerment. Wherever possible, it offers female businesses (with an emphasis on the entire supply chain!) a stage for greater visibility.

Sustainable criteria

When selecting products and brands, factors such as natural materials, fair working conditions, animal welfare and longevity of the products are basic requirements. Justine also pays attention to textile seals such as the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) or IVN Best. If they are start-ups without certification, she relies on other factors such as resource-saving production, handmade, upcycling or even regional aspects.

Lama Living

LAMA LIVING is more than just an online marketplace. LAMA LIVING is a platform for conscious consumption. And that’s why Justine also tells the producers’ stories, shows their working conditions and gives insights on her blog.

And what does the marketplace have to do with llamas? For Justine, the llama is a synonym for sustainability. Quite apart from the fact that the wool of llamas or alpacas is soft, warming and breathable, the herd animals have properties that can serve as a role model for us humans.
