Mental Health in Fashion x ASVOFF Film Festival

As part of the A Shaded View on Fashion Film Festival (ASVOFF), the Mental Health in Fashion category will take place for the first time from November 7 to 10, 2024. Submissions are possible until September 30, 2024.

In a world where glamorous fashion weeks and hyped labels are in the spotlight, a change of perspective, a look behind the scenes of the fashion system, is long overdue. This is what Florian Müller, founder of the Mental Health in Fashion campaign, has set out to do. And he has established this important topic as a new film category at the A Shaded View on Fashion Film Festival (ASVOFF).

Unlike traditional fashion events, the Mental Health in Fashion campaign goes beyond the glamour that is so typical of fashion. Instead of subscribing to the usual ideal world attitude of fashion, Florian Müller, himself a long-time member of the industry, wants to draw attention to the sometimes invisible challenges of the fashion industry. It’s not just about clothes, but also about the people inside and outside the fashion industry and the mental health problems they face.

ASVOFF

ASVOFF is introducing the new category “Mental Health in Fashion” to raise awareness and destigmatize mental health issues in the fashion industry. Led by Florian Müller, it will highlight the industry’s impact on mental health. A jury of international experts will evaluate the entries, ensuring a comprehensive examination of the interface between fashion and mental health.

Submit by September 30, 2024:

We are looking for filmmakers to submit fashion or documentary films that explore and challenge the visibility and stigma of mental health issues within and outside of the fashion industry. We are looking for works that:

* address the lived experiences of people with mental illness in the fashion world, from designers and workers to consumers.
* examine how industry practices and societal pressures impact mental wellbeing across the fashion supply chain.
* explore how fashion can either perpetuate or combat mental health stigma, and present narratives that promote understanding and support.
* showcasing creative approaches to raising awareness and encouraging meaningful conversations about mental health at all levels of the fashion industry.

Submit by September 30, 2024 and get a chance to apply for the Best Mental Health in Fashion Film. For more information or questions, please contact @mentalhealthinfashion.
