When you think of waxed cotton you inevitably think of the iconic jackets by John Barbour, originally developed as functional jackets against wind and weather, which in the 80s and 90s shaped the fashionable street scene from Munich to Berlin. The short, denim jacket-inspired blousons, fitted blazers and classic trench coats have little in common with a functional jacket. Founder, Amin Perraro, has combined the classic function of waxed cotton with maximum contemporary cuts, wafer-thin fabrics, intense colors such as pink, red and green and a look that at first glance makes you think of leather.
Originally, Amin wanted to study sports in Cologne. But the fashion scene in Cologne was fast moving. Born in Morocco, he had already worked for the renowned fashion photographer, Alexander Beck. Thereafter, he worked a sales job at a Cologne store, where he made a contact that gave him deeper insight into the fashion industry and inspired the kick-off for his jacket and coat collection. His jackets and coats are produced in Portugal under ecological and fair working conditions.
Every season, PERRARO launches a new cut from the same material, which adapts so wonderfully to the body that some fans are prepared to wait several months for the limited edition pieces.
