Performance Days Munich // This is how trade fairs work.

Somehow I haven't managed to go to the Performance Days yet, even though the leading trade fair for functional fabrics and sustainable textile innovations takes place at the Munich exhibition center. In October I attended the two-day boutique event for the first time. My conclusion: an absolute must for all textile and sports industry professionals who don't want to miss out on the future.

Two days (October 23rd/24th, 2024) Performance Days. Almost 500 exhibitors. Two halls. Space for networking, knowledge transfer and exchange, innovation previews and industry insights. Wonderfully calm. Maximum relaxed vibes. Yep. That’s how trade fairs work today.

The Performance Days are about the current zeitgeist and new standards.

It is no secret that today’s trade fair landscape is struggling with challenges such as declining visitor and exhibitor numbers (or has already given up). So many organizers are looking for contemporary positioning. For innovative approaches. For added value for brands, trade visitors, media. They are combining B2B with B2C. They are bringing cooperation partners on board… In order to make trade fairs and trade fair visits (still) relevant and indispensable.

Promotes networks and serves as a collective innovation platform for the industry.

With a focus on functional fabrics and sustainable textile innovations. Clear positioning. Sharp topic. High-quality exhibitors. The Performance Days are much more than a procurement platform. It’s about knowledge transfer. About networking. About bringing the industry together and preparing for the (textile) future together. About shaping it together.

The combination of procurement platform and knowledge transfer is well received because the concept enables the industry to exchange ideas about real innovations and future trends in a professional yet relaxed environment and at the same time to make valuable contacts. Marco Weichert, CEO Performance Days.

Performance Days

This is about industry trends and technological innovations.

Expert talks, lectures, panels, workshops, deep dives, the Next Gen Education Hub for industry experts of tomorrow. I listened to a lot, learned a lot, and exchanged ideas.

Legislation by Ohana Public Affairs, Ranveig von Itterson:

Green Deal, Eco-Design for sustainable product regulation (ESPR), Waste framework directive… So, so important (and for all of you who haven’t yet looked into the upcoming regulations in depth: please, please start doing so!). I understand a lot more now. The specially set up Ohana workshop area sought answers to the crucial question: Why should textile designers and producers already be concerned with the upcoming EU regulations for textiles?
