Fiber and material development is also an important topic.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">\u201cWe can speak of a humanitarian crisis.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/closedloopfashion\/?hl=de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marina Chahboune<\/a> knows what the situation looks like in many production plants. She works as a <strong>sustainability manager<\/strong> in the textile production sector. <strong>She lives in Indonesia<\/strong> and, together with her team, mainly accompanies companies on site. She also works a lot in Bangladesh. Marina hasn&#8217;t been able to travel for over a month and works in her <strong>home office in Bali<\/strong>, but is in close contact with the factories she works with.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">\u201cIndonesia and Bangladesh are affected differently.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In Indonesia, the companies have found themselves quite comfortable in the <strong>new situation<\/strong>. Here the <strong>supply chain is relatively broadly based<\/strong> because <strong>all supply steps<\/strong> are covered, from the raw material to the finished product. One has resources in the country and therefore <strong>no dependence<\/strong> on imports from other countries. Many factories are switching to <strong>protective clothing and masks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\">&#8220;Workers storm factories in Bangladesh to work.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span title=\"\">In the<strong> low-income country of Bangladesh<\/strong>, on the other hand, the situation is <strong>very critical<\/strong> because the focus is only on the &#8220;final step&#8221;, the garment production, and thus there is a <strong>direct dependency<\/strong> on the fashion companies that have now <strong>canceled their orders<\/strong> or stop current <\/span><span title=\"\">productions.<\/span> <span title=\"\">The factories remain at their own expense.<\/span> <strong><span class=\"\" title=\"\">Many workers are panicked.<\/span><\/strong> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">Just like in Cambodia and Vietnam.<\/span> <strong><span class=\"\" title=\"\">There is no social system.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">\u201cIt&#8217;s tragic to see how fast fashion companies came to a stop even though they had binding commitments\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The structure that the textile industry has built is unhealthy and unacceptable, says Marina. A gradual change would have been possible in recent years, but has not been initiated. But Marina emphasizes that there is now a possibility to start over, but probably only at a very high price.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">\u201cThe structure we have built up over the last decades is completely unhealthy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>How can fashion companies <strong>simply stop their productions<\/strong> and cancel binding commitments, the sustainability expert asks herself.\u00a0 There are currently hardly <strong>any statements from certifiers<\/strong> and international conventions.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">\u201cThese are all violations of the law and humanity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Wie es nach Corona aussieht kann noch niemand genau sagen, aber<strong> gut sieht es nicht aus<\/strong>. Der Preis f\u00fcr einen Systemwandel, den sich die nachhaltige Szene schon so lange w\u00fcnscht lie\u00dfe sich momentan nur mit einem <strong>viel zu hohen Preis<\/strong> f\u00fcr die Betroffenen in den <strong>textilproduzierenden L\u00e4ndern<\/strong> bezahlen.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody can yet say exactly what it will look like after Corona, but<strong> it does not look good<\/strong>. Even though many in and around the industry are now talking about the fact that there is a good chance that the textile industry will also set the course<strong> in one way or another<\/strong>.
