To show that jewelry can not only look good, but also feel good<\/strong>, Jutta Werling-Durejka brings eco-fair colored gemstones from Minas Gerais (Brazil) to Germany under the name BrazilGems<\/strong> and sells them wholesale. In 2003, she was awarded the first certification for eco-fair produced and traded gemstones<\/strong>. Since 2014, Fair jewelry<\/strong> made from eco-fair materials<\/strong> has been produced at AURHEN ecofair\u2019s jewelry studio in \u00dcberlingen.<\/p>\n

And what about gold? River gold, recycled gold and Saxony silver<\/h2>\n

The gold from Peru<\/strong> comes from the Fairtrade controlled and certified Sotrami mine. The so-called natural or river gold<\/strong> comes from the Isar, Danube, Rhine and Elbe rivers. This gold is washed gravimetrically \u2013 without the use of chemicals \u2013 \u00a0in various gravel works along the these rivers<\/strong>. Approximately 250,000 flakes yield to one gram of gold. The processing in the laboratory<\/strong> is carried out under strict environmental conditions. The water used is reused by means of recycling processes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The jewelry production also uses recycled gold, eco-Andina gold<\/strong> from a small community in Argentina, Suomigold<\/strong> from Lapland and Fairtrade certified gold. The Fairtrade gold<\/strong> comes from the Sotrami mine in Peru and Suomigold from Lapland. The \u201c\u00d6koandina\u201d silver is sourced from a village cooperative on Lake Poop\u00f3 in Bolivia. And the Fairtrade-certified silver<\/strong> from the Macdesa mine in Peru is processed into jewelry at AURHEN.<\/p>\n

Good to know:
\n<\/strong>All stones processed at AURHEN come from their own wholesale<\/strong> of eco-fair colored gemstones from Brazil. An XL selection<\/strong> of eco-fair aquamarine, tourmaline in all color variations<\/strong>, white beryl, amethyst and citrine. Rutile quartz, garnet and tourmaline quartz are only certified from the cutting room onwards<\/strong>. Diamonds are purchased from Australia<\/strong> or Canada<\/strong>, if needed.<\/p>\n

AURHEN works closely with the Soares family<\/strong> of mine owners from Minas Gerais, Brazil. They mine the minerals and cut them to gemstones in the family’s own cutting shop<\/strong>, which reach AURHEN directly without intermediate trade. Together with AURHEN, this small family business enables a humane<\/strong> and secure existence for 15 miners<\/strong> and cutters<\/strong> and their families.<\/p>\n

S\u00e4mtliche verarbeiteten Komponenten<\/strong> des Schmucks werden ohne Kinderarbeit, ohne Finanzierung<\/strong> von kriegerischen Auseinandersetzungen und unter Beachtung strenger \u00f6kologischer Aspekte<\/strong> abgebaut und verarbeitet. Die Edelmetalle werden ohne Zyanid<\/strong> gewonnen. Keiner der verwendeten Edelsteine wurde mit Gammastrahlen<\/strong> behandelt oder auf andere Art manipuliert.<\/p>\n

All processed components<\/strong> of the jewelry are dismantled and processed without child labor<\/strong>, without financing warlike<\/strong> conflicts<\/strong> and considering strict ecological aspects<\/strong>. The precious metals are extracted without cyanide<\/strong>. None of the precious stones used have been treated with gamma rays<\/strong> or manipulated in any other way.<\/p>\n
