For this reason, there is no summary of the SHIFT Conference here, but rather a few selected statements, keywords, claims and food for thought that really caught my attention.<\/span><\/span> Why is it so important that we deal with topics of this kind?<\/span><\/span> Because business success is based on knowledge and competence.<\/span><\/span> Just like change, which is what our work is about at the end of the day.<\/span><\/span> Things cannot stay the way they are.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Aha: Prerequisite for the TS?<\/span><\/span> That all contact points (us) have access to technological devices.<\/span><\/span> And that is exactly the case now: people from 7 to 70 years old – in other words all currently living generations – have access to smartphones and tablets, for example, and can use them (more or less).<\/span><\/span> Incidentally, this is Generation T (Transition).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Please note: 80 to 90 percent of the content on social media will be generated by AI in the not too distant future.<\/span><\/span> This will lead to a massive loss of trust in digital topics.<\/span><\/span> This means: an opportunity for spatial manifestation – stationary retail will experience a renaissance (good news for retailers, city centers, and society).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Aha: “The collections of many very big brands do not have a clear signature.” That is so, so true.<\/span><\/span> Thank you for that, Janek.<\/span><\/span> All the more impressive (and refreshing!) when you discover labels with a super clear signature.<\/span><\/span> When everything just makes so much sense.<\/span><\/span> When the brand has a DNA that continues in all facets.<\/span><\/span> Therefore (tip): less is more.<\/span><\/span> That means: shrink collections.<\/span><\/span> Reduce complexity.<\/span><\/span> Focus on the brand core.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bad: Higher, faster, further is (still!) the credo of the fashion industry.<\/span><\/span> They can’t get enough.<\/span><\/span> The result?<\/span><\/span> We’re seeing it right now.<\/span><\/span> That’s bad.<\/span><\/span> And this will be even worse.<\/span><\/span> #climatcrisis<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I am an early warning system for fading trends.<\/span><\/span> I live in Munich.<\/span><\/span> When the trend arrives here, I know it’s over.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

My rhetorical question: do we really need trends?<\/span><\/span> Or is this just another driver of consumption?<\/span><\/span> My urgent question: Really?!<\/span><\/span> My appeal: Please emancipate yourselves.<\/span><\/span> Do you really have to follow every trend?<\/span><\/span> Otherwise everyone wants to live independently and make their own decisions.<\/span><\/span> And then something like this?<\/span><\/span> All I can say is (I can hardly say it) \u2013 ahhhhh \u2013 Crogs.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bingo: \u201cIn the end, everything is brand merchandise.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Listen!<\/span><\/span> The brand essence must be authentic.<\/span><\/span> And remain so.<\/span><\/span> If you want to survive in the competition, you have to strengthen your brand.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Ahead of the curve”: It’s no longer about recognizing trends.<\/span><\/span> It’s about shaping them and building communities.<\/span><\/span> Growth hack: If you want growth, you have to recognize trends.<\/span><\/span> Problem: A CMO has to understand where trends arise.<\/span><\/span> CMOs are not close enough to the zeitgeist.<\/span><\/span> Remedy: Cultural Hubs<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\nTip: listen more to gut feeling.<\/span><\/span>
\nSurprising: \u201cwe can predict the future\u201d.<\/span><\/span>
\nOne last question: how much mainstream can subculture handle?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We shouldn’t be afraid of AI.<\/span><\/span> Just that we won’t be able to handle it.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\nTo do: AI is based on us connecting data\/processes with each other.<\/span><\/span> In other words: We have to form ecosystems.<\/span><\/span>
\nHuman in the loop.<\/span><\/span> People will continue to play a role in AI because they are needed to bring in the creative spirit and to guarantee quality with common sense and expertise.<\/span><\/span>
\nProblem: We don’t have a good AI strategy in Germany.<\/span><\/span> Germany is in the so-called middle technology gap.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Problem: Customers have aged with them.<\/span><\/span> But many companies have not managed to build up a new customer base.<\/span><\/span>
\nThe fact is: We have not invested in marketing in Germany.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The good news: If the brand core is right, the spirit of the times can be implemented.<\/span><\/span>
\nThe bad news: If you are looking for your purpose, you don’t have one.<\/span><\/span>
\nMore bad news: Fast and ultra-fast fashion companies have money and profiles.<\/span><\/span> That’s why “we are being eaten up from the bottom up towards the middle”.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Always keep in mind. Making a brand is not a sprint.<\/span><\/span> Making a brand is a marathon, or at least a half-marathon.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
