Two sisters living in different countries.<\/span><\/span> Have taken different paths in life.<\/span><\/span> And yet are united.<\/span><\/span> Not least because of their shared passion for and interest in fashion, urban living, circularity and fairness.<\/span><\/span> And the urgent desire to change something.<\/span><\/span> The result is called Vretena and is a sustainable model label based in Darmstadt, which has made it its task to close the textile cycle.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Our vision for the future of fashion is to strive for high quality designs that are designed, made and consumed with circularity and responsibility towards nature in mind.<\/span><\/span> In this way we not only express a style, but also a way of life.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

At Vretena, we don’t just design.<\/span><\/span> Vretena develops its collections against the background of reusability.<\/span><\/span> The idea of circularity and responsibility for the environment is taken into account from the very beginning.<\/span><\/span> This works through the selection of suitable materials and – in the case of Vretena – the implementation of the circularity.ID\u00ae.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Vretena is part of the closed loop pilot project initiated by Berlin-based circular.fashion and FairWertung e.V.<\/span><\/span> Together with four German fashion brands (Armedangels, Besonnen, Otto, The Slow Label) of different sizes and non-profit textile collectors and recyclers from the FairWertung association, Vretena is testing to what extent a merger of fashion brands, collectors and recyclers can work in terms of a closed cycle.<\/span><\/span> As part of the project, which will run until the end of 2022, the fashion brands are launching various circular textile products that, thanks to the circularity.ID\u00ae, enable intelligent sorting via charitable return channels.<\/span><\/span> In the long term, a cycle infrastructure is to be set up that can be expanded and used beyond the pilot phase<\/span><\/span><\/span>.

\"Vretena\"<\/h2>\n

Transparent from the raw material to the finished product thanks to circularity.ID\u00ae<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

The scannable QR code or NFC button in every Vretena garment provides transparent information about the entire supply chain of the corresponding parts – about the manufacture, the materials used, care instructions as well as – return, reuse and recycling options – all available options at the end<\/span><\/span> of the wear cycle.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Organic cotton, Lyocell (Tencel\u2122) and EtaProof Natural Performance are used.<\/span><\/span> The latter is an innovative, plant-based high-performance fiber made from GOTS-certified organic cotton, which is made from the finest and longest cotton fibers and is water-repellent, windproof and breathable.The haberdashery is also listed transparently. Laundry slip, yarn (100 percent Tencel), buttons (GOTS certified), elastic bands, zippers. Haberdashery is a still far too often neglected part of clothing that needs to be accounted for when it comes to transparency and reusability. example yarn. Because that influences the reuse of the material and the efficiency of the recycling process to a large extent. Vretena therefore uses yarn that consists of 100 percent Tencel\u2122, has been dyed according to the Cradle to Cradle\u00ae Gold criteria and meets the Oeko-Tex\u00ae Standard 100 specifications.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Vretena philosophy: Innovation brings nature and urbanity together in a sustainable and balanced way for the benefit of all.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Vretena stands for fair pay, fair working conditions and a fair model that takes the various aspects of sustainability into account.<\/span><\/span> Including ecological, social and economic aspects.<\/span><\/span> The collections are created in two different production sites in Bulgaria (this is where Denica comes from).<\/span><\/span> Both places are visited regularly.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Good to know: Vretena supported #yearofgivingwater by Drip by Drip, the first NGO to deal with water issues in the fashion and textile industry.<\/span><\/span> The campaign gives 12 families access to clean drinking water for 10+ years.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

From an initial feeling and the unconditional knowledge that the right time for change is always NOW, Vretena was founded in Frankfurt at the end of 2017. With the aim of connecting urbanity and nature through innovation and closing cycles.
